Identity

Kids with Capes

Each of us is different, and each of us brings something special and unique to the world around us. It is important that our children feel valued for who they are and for what they can give to their community. For young children:

  • They can build connections with other significant people in their learning environment, ie adults and peers

  • They show interest in other children and being part of a group

  • They communicate their needs for comfort and assistance

  • They initiate and join in play

  • They demonstrate an increasing capacity to self-regulate

  • They are open to challenges and new discoveries

What might this look like?

Your child feels comfortable in their skin and is aware that they are good at some things and that they may need to think a little more about other things. The adults around them talk to them about how they are feeling, why some things might be harder than others and support the development of new relationships between adults and children.
